Karla Brundage is a Bay Area poet, activist and educator with a passion for social justice. She is the author of "Swallowing Watermelons" published by Ishmael Reed Publishing Company and her poetry and essays are included in more than twenty publications including, Bamboo Ridge Press, Konch Magazine, La’ila’i. Her work has taken her to Cote D'Ivoire, Ghana and South Africa where she has lived and taught. She is the Founder of West Oakland to West Africa, which facilitates cross-cultural exchange between Oakland and Ghanan poets, and is a board member of the Before Columbus Foundation.
