Liza Monroy is the author of three books: the debut novel Mexican High, the controversial memoir The Marriage Act: The Risk I Took To Keep My Best Friend In America And What It Taught Us About Love, and Seeing As Your Shoes Are Soon To Be On Fire: essays. Her articles and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, O (Oprah Magazine), Newsweek, Village Voice, Marie Claire, Everyday With Rachael Ray, among others, and her "Modern Love" essays have been anthologized in a new volume of the "most popular, provocative, and unforgettable essays from the past fifteen years of the New York Times 'Modern Love' column."
