Stacy Johnson

Stacy Johnson was born in Jackson, Mississippi and often relies on her Southern roots for inspiration. She grew up in the Bay Area writing short stories and poetry in the margins of her notebooks and taking pictures of everyday life in Oakland, California. Stacy combines prose, poetry, and photography to create stories that cross boundaries to interrupt the status quo. Stacy is writing her first novel, Woom, The Worlds of Our Mothers, a redemption story that chronicles the lives of three Black women who lived in the 1950s, Mississippi Delta. Stacy studies photography under the guidance of award-winning photographer and author, Matt Herron. She earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College where she graduated with honors and won the Mary Merritt Henry Prize for excellence in poetry. Visit Stacy at stacyjowrites.wordpress.com.
